Thiseio is popular for early afternoon or evening strolls with views of the illuminated Acropolis. It includes the pedestrianized Apostolou Pavlou street that rings the Acropolis. The National Observatory, a scientific institute for the study of astronomy and seismology has vintage telescopes on display and offers tours, while the Herakleidon museum hosts art and science exhibitions.
Stalls at the neighborhood market sell local artisan wares like leather bags, paper lanterns and handmade soaps, and shady streets are packed with cafes, tavernas and bars. However, if you walk a few doors down for the main drag you will find yourself in the midst of a calm and authentic Athenian middle-class neighbourhoud with many cultural and edible treasures. You may get lost wondering around, but this is the fun part!

Just take the metro Line 2 from Metaxourgio towards Elliniko for just 1 stop and stop to Omonia. Then take Line 1 with direction to Piraeus for just 2 stops and get off at Thissio. Alternatively, take a taxi from the hotel for 15’
